Original Etteilla
Original Grand Etteilla Tarot deck created by the occultist Etteilla (Jean-Baptiste Alliette) the first professional tarot reader around 1791. The deck illustrations were created by the famous engraver Pierre-François Basan. This deck is historically important as it is the first to: use “Madness” and the number 0 for the Fool Arcana card. It is also the first to use astrological correspondences on the Major Arcana cards. Tarot correspondences will be further extended by other occultists such as Papus, Waite, Case and Crowley. Etteilla named this deck the "Le jeu de Thoth" and following Court de Gébelin traced its origin to ancien Egypt and the temple of Memphis.
